"URBAN BEAUTY" is a distinctive jewellery collection consisting of a blackberry, blueberry, strawberry and a leaf grown in the middle of Berlin.
Inspired by the mysterious imperfections of urban plants, MONYA/HELMUT has captured this flawed beauty and immortalized it in 18K gold. This collection pays homage to the fleeting elegance of urban flora, encapsulating their vanity in four luxurious pieces, each skillfully polished with a blend of matte and glossy finishes. Created in collaboration with a master mason and a skilled goldsmith, these exquisite pieces are presented in a stone box, meticulously crafted from basaltic lava sourced from Mayen, Germany. The box is further refined with a 3D-milled inlay made of polished and waxed Canadian walnut, adding a touch of warmth and sophistication to the presentation.
Dress Becomes Sculpture. In collaboration with the ZERO foundation, MONYA/HELMUT reimagined the iconic ZERO dress from the 1960s. Originally conceived by Otto Piene, the ZERO dress is a simple rectangle that, when worn, transforms into an advertising pillar, engaging with the outside world through the principles of the ZERO movement.
Our reinterpretation features a modern twist: a dress with side openings that symbolically form a large white zero, maintaining the purist aesthetic of the original design. Through subtle tailoring that accentuates femininity, a carefully selected choice of fabrics, and thoughtful imagery, we’ve created a contemporary version of Piene's visionary dress.
This reinterpretation was featured in the DYNAMO. Zeitung für Kunst, Wissenschaft und Architektur magazine, published in conjunction with the ZERO retrospective at Martin Gropius Bau in Berlin and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
A limited edition of 50 pieces was available for purchase at the Walter König Museum Shops in both Berlin and Amsterdam during the ZERO exhibitions.
